BEL AIR, Md. - The Harford baseball team had another record day at the ballpark on Thursday, as the Fighting Owls (28-7, 14-1 MD JUCO) blasted CCBC Catonsville (19-11-1, 8-6), 16-6. The offense tied a school record with seven home runs in the win and the pitching staff struck out 16 batters in eight innings.
For the second time in 10 games, the Fighting Owls belted seven home runs, including back-to-back-to-back home runs in the second inning.
Dominic DiSabatino's second home run of the day started the three consecutive shots and
Joe Burton and
Luke Johnson finished the feat.
For DiSabatino, it was his ninth and 10th of the season giving him a school-record breaking 18 in his career.
Daulton Weeks connected on his MD JUCO-best 12th of the season, giving him 17 in his career as both players bested the previous record of 16 set in 2011 by Christian Wolfe.
Max Joseph hit his fourth of the year and
Ben Bomberger's inside the park home run was a laser down the left field line that the Cardinal outfielder couldn't fish out near the wall.
The other main storyline of the evening was
Michael Adams. The sophomore struck out 12 batters in six innings. One game after tossing a one-hit shutout, the righthander was missing bats at an alarming rate. He was credited with four runs, though just one was earned as he improved to 6-0 on the season.Â
The Fighting Owls travel to face Montgomery (8-0 MD JUCO) on Saturday for a doubleheader.
