Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | by Paul Cottingham

Men's Soccer Stifled By Harcum, 5-0

BEL AIR, Md. – The Harford Men's Soccer team fell to Harcum (1-0), 5-0 as they were unable to get much going from the start.

The Fighting Owls were on the other end of a 5-0 shutout Tuesday as they were unable to duplicate their performance from their season opening win over Lehigh Carbon last Wednesday (Aug. 24). Harcum was the better team from start to finish, essentially winning the game in the opening 20 minutes with four goals.

The Bears got on the board in the second minute of the game on a speculative effort by Karam Idris. Idris' shot from 30 yards out hit the turf with side-spin about five feet in front of Harford keeper Niko Roros. Roros mishandled the bounce, allowing the ball roll into the net for a shocking opener for Harcum.

Harcum were able to add another tally just over two minutes later a Fighting Owl committed a foul in the box resulting in a penalty shot. Jack Burrows converted from the spot to put the Bears up 2-0 less than five minutes into the match. Burrows, who finished the match with a hat trick, would net another in the 15th minute, firing a nice volley 15 yards out from a cross by Jeff Charles.

Harcum would go up 4-0 on a goal by Uros Momic who got behind the defense and fired a shot through the five-hole of Roros in the 19th minute. In the time Harcum scored four goals, Harford was only able to manage one shot as they struggled to get into a rhythm offensively. They were only able to get one shot on goal the entire game.

Harford will look to put this game behind them as they host Rowan College at Burlington County Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
