BEL AIR, Md. – The Harford Men's Soccer team was undone by a poor second half as they fell to Rowan College at Burlington County, 6-1.
Harford (1-2) were unable to find much offense for the second straight match as they struggled to create many clear cut chances on goal. The one clean chance they created saw them draw a penalty in the box as
Ayoub Fouadi was taken down by the keeper after rounding him in the box in the 73
rd minute of the match. Barons keeper Guy Amirov was shown a red card and was sent off for the remainder of the match, forcing Burlington County to play with 10 men. Foudadi would take the penalty himself, firing a shot that beat the keeper to his right just under the bar. The goal was merely a consolation for Harford as it made the score 5-1 in favor of the visitors.
Up 2-0, in the second half, Burlington County (2-0) found their rhythm and put together a pair of beautiful goals in quick succession. In the 57
th minute Jack Hoey received the ball at the top of the 18-yard box and back heeled a lateral pass to Ismael Guerrero who fired a laser into the back of the net to give the Barons a 3-0 lead. Just three minutes later Hoey got on the board for his second goal of the match, finishing off a quick, triangular passing move capped off by a slick first time through ball by Luis Rivadeneria that led Hoey behind the Harford backline into the box for an easily placed shot into the bottom right corner of the net. The two goals in three minutes put the Barons up 4-0 and all but ended the Fighting Owls chances at a comeback.
Both Hoey and Guerrero had two goals in the game for Burlington County. Hoey and Rivadeneria both had a pair of assists as they combined to dominate in the attacking half of the field.
After not scoring a goal in open play in back to back matches, Harford will look to bounce back next week as they open conference play on Wednesday against Montgomery. The match will be the nightcap of a doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. as the women's team will take on Montgomery as well at 4 p.m.
