Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

WSoc Hold Off Howard, 4-3

COLUMBIA, Md. - An early 3-0 lead for the Fighting Owls women's soccer was put in danger, but a second half goal by Alexandria Adams gave Harford CC the winning goal for a big 4-3 victory over Howard. The win improves Harford's record to 2-1 on the season and their conference record to 1-1.

After a tough loss to Montgomery earlier in the week, the Fighting Owls were in need of a bounce-back as they looked to avenge last year's tough loss to the Dragons that cost Harford an MD JUCO title. However, this day was a different story as the ladies in blue were dominant for the first 30 minutes of the game.

With the Dragons struggling to get out of their own zone, Harford pounced on their numerous early chances when Briana Stabile tapped in a cross from Grace Humes that hit the inside of the far post for the lead just five minutes into the game. It took just two minutes for the Owls to double their lead as Mackenzie Wills hit a beautiful through ball that found Adams one-on-one with the keeper which she gracefully slotted into the back of the net.

The most impressive effort on the day came from Shianne Georgantakis, who fought to win the ball back and took a long range shot that flew past the Dragons keeper and into the top netting. Howard was able to get a goal back late in the first half to make it a 3-1 lead at halftime.

Another Dragons goal early in the second half cut the lead to just a single goal with 30 minutes left to play. It didn't take long for the Fighting Owls to get it back as Stabile made a nice through ball to Adams who made a fantastic run from the midfield and was unmarked as she put in her 2nd goal of the game. That insurance goal ended up as the game winner as a long range effort by the Dragons put the final score at 4-3 and a massive win for Harford.

The Fighting Owls continue their streak of conference games as they travel to Anne Arundel on Tuesday September 13th for a 5 PM match.
