Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Owls Fly Past Riverhawks 7-1

ARNOLD, Md- The Harford women's soccer team rode a six goal 2nd half to rout the Anne Arundel RIverhawks 7-1. The victory improves the Fighting Owls record to 3-1 on the season and 2-1 in conference play.

The game started out ominously for the Fighting Owls as AACC was on the board just six minutes into the game on the first shot of the game. That would be the last time the home team would score in the game as goalkeepers Ciara Harbaugh and Kristan Shock would combine to shut out the Riverhawks over the next 84 minutes of the game. It was Jenna Staton who finally broke through for Harford as she was assisted by Emily Doleschal 32 minutes into the game. Despite Harford out-shooting Anne Arundel 10-2 in the first half, the score remained tied going into the second stanza.

That was when the flood gates opened as the Fighting Owls would go on to score six 2nd half goals. First it was Grace Humes scoring her first of a hat-trick effort on the day thanks to a Mackenzie Wills assist. Staton would go on to score two of the next three goals as she joined her teammate in earning a hat trick on the day. Wills eventually scored one of her own in a six shot performance before Humes closed out a manical stretch of six Owl goals in 22 minutes. Harford would go on to finish the game with 28 shots compared to their opponent's five in a game that was dominated by the visitors.

Harford will next play host to Rowan College at Burlington County on Sunday September 18th; kick-off is scheduled for 12 PM.
