BEL AIR, Md- The Harford women's soccer team went up against a tough Monroe Tribunes team and lost 5-0. The defeat means the Fighting Owls fall to 5-2 on the season as they look to get back on track in conference play.
Monroe came out strong from the start as Elin Eklund made a free run and took a good shot that was saved by
Kristan Shock, but the rebound went right to Bayley Kralik who tapped it into an open net. A long free kick for Monroe hit the cross bar and bounced straight back to Marla Roberts who finished it for a 2-0 Tribunes lead within the first 6 minutes of the game.
Shock started to pad her save numbers early with a double save as she did everything she could to keep the Fighting Owls in the game with 17 saves on the day. The Fighting Owls finally got a shot on goal after 15 minutes of play as
Shianne Georgantakis took a long range shot that was saved by the Monroe keeper.
The best chance for the Fighting Owls to score was in the second half when an
Abbie Springer corner kick found the head of
Alexandria Adams but it caromed off the crossbar and away. Ultimately, the Tribunes were just too strong on the day and they prevailed 5-0 over the Fighting Owls.
Harford will next go on the road to take on Southern Maryland on Tuesday, September 27
th for a 2 pm match.
