LA PLATA, Md- The Harford women's soccer team continued their winning ways against conference opponents as they were able to shut out Southern Maryland 5-0. The victory puts the Fighting Owls at 6-2 for the season and 4-1 in conference play as they only trail Montgomery in the MD JUCO conference.
Harford was able to really dominate the game from start to finish, but were only able to get a single goal in the first half as
Mackenzie Wills was able to score on an
Abbie Springer assist.
In the second half, the goals really started to flow as
Shianne Georgantakis scored a couple of unassisted goals early in the second stanza.
Jenna Staton was able to also score a goal as she was able to keep pace with Wills for the team lead with 6 goals for the season as
Chase Otenasek picked up her 3 assist of the season.Â
Otenasek was able to cap the goal scoring as she put one in for herself with just 13 minutes left to play as the Fighting Owls cruised to victory. Goalkeeper
Kristan Shock only saw 4 shots on goal compared to the 21 that the Southern Maryland goalkeeper faced, but Shock was able to collect her 3rd shut out of the season.
The Fighting Owls will stay on the road this week as they next travel to Frederick for a 2 PM match on Friday, September 30th.
