Knights Shut Down Fighting Owls 4-0

  • The Short Story: The Fighting Owls were unable to break through the Knights stranglehold as they fell 4-0 on the road. The loss drops Harford to third place in the conference with just three games left to play in the regular season.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • With conference title implications aplenty, Harford traveled to cross town rivals Essex in a critical match for both teams.
  • Unfortunately for the Fighting Owl faithful, it was Essex that jumped out to an early lead in the 6th minute on a Clement Blamo goal.
  • Harford had a few good chances in the first half to tie the game with Antonio Savi having the best of them when he corralled a long ball and hit a shot that was parried away by the Essex goalkeeper.
  • Savi had a couple more chances on goal early in the second half as a free kick from 25 yards out went wide then a shot from just outside the box a few minutes later was saved.
  • The Knights took control of the game from there as they scored three goals in the second half to put away the game.

UP NEXT
  • Harford will return home to take on Frederick for a Tuesday night game on October 10 at 6 PM. 
  • The Cougars are 6-5 on the season and 4-4 in conference play with wins against Catonsville, Southern Maryland, Cecil and Howard.
