 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The opening 25 minutes of the contest was mostly a physical battle for possession with neither team getting opportunities at goal.
  • Alexandria Adams was the first to force a goalkeeper into action as her header from an Emily Doleschal corner kick went straight at the Cloud County net minder.
  • Harford nearly scored again five minutes later when a long pass by Emily Raulie saw Mackenzie Wills behind the defense but was just a half step away from getting a touch on it before the Cloud County goalkeeper cleared it out.
  • The Fighting Owls continued to get chances late in the first half as Rachel Bohli saw a fast break shot get deflected wide followed by Adams with a hard left footed shot that went right into the keeper.
  • The second half was the much of the same for the first 20 minutes as Harford continued to control the majority of the possession.
  • After 65 minutes of frustration, the breakthrough finally came as Rachel Bohli earned a free kick just outside of the box then drilled the free kick into the bottom left corner of the goal for her 27th of the season. With that goal, Bohli is now tied for second in Harford program history for most goals in a single season and tied for eighth all time in career goals in just her first season as a Fighting Owl.
  • Bohli broke free on a fast break and slid a great pass over to Kassidy Webster who took a well hit left footed shot that was pawed away.
  • Cloud County got a great chance with 12 minutes left as a fast break was hit out for a corner kick, but the Thunderbirds took advantage as Abigail Conway volleyed the cross in to tie the game at 1-1.
  • With the game coming dangerously close to overtime, Alexandria Adams made a great tackle in the middle of the field and drove all the way down the right side of the field then blasted a shot into the top left corner of the net in what proved to be the game winner for the Fighting Owls. It was Adams 22nd goal this season and 32nd of her career.
  • Mackenzie Wills had a fast break just a few minutes later as her shot went just wide of the goal.
  • With just a few seconds left, Cloud County created one more chance as a free kick was put into the middle of the box and headed towards the Harford goal, but goalkeeper Crystal Kline was in perfect position to grab it cleanly to close out the game.
QUOTES
  • Head coach Jason Muffoletto on the game: "I thought we didn't play our best game, we had a hard time finding our rhythm. Even so we were able to grind it out and get a result; it wasn't the prettiest and it wasn't the best but we found a way and that's all that matters at this point in the season. Cloud County was really composed on the ball, they were tough and we knew coming into the game that everyone here was a champion of their region so we knew it wasn't going to be easy."
  • Sophomore midfielder Alexandria Adams on her game winning goal: "Grace Humes and I collapsed on the ball and forced the ball away. I saw all the space and thought about passing it off but I heard my coaches telling me to take it myself so I just went to goal. As soon as I hit the ball I knew right away it was going in."
  • Freshman forward Rachel Bohli on her opening goal: "(Briana Stabile) got the ball in the middle of the field and made a great pass through to me which forced them to foul me just outside of the box. I saw that the back left post was open for the free kick so I just hit it hard. I was trying to go high over our girl's heads but it just went into the bottom corner.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Crystal Kline on her clutch save at the end of the game: "I saw in coming into the box and just wanted to put myself in a good position to block it. As soon as I caught the ball I was really excited because I knew it meant we were going to win the game."
