#14 Harford Takes First Loss Of The Season

  • The Short Story: The Fighting Owls suffered their first loss of the season after a rough outing in the first day of the prestigious tournament in the nation's capital. The undefeated Avengers jumped out to an early start in the contest and rode that all the way to victory over the nationally ranked Harford squad.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Fighting Owls started out very slowly in the game as they trailed the Avengers 21-7 after the first quarter and 43-18 at halftime.
  • Harford went on a great run in the third quarter led by the hard charging Joy Morton and Ryan Holder that cut the ASA lead to just seven before point guard Shawnkia McCallum cramped up and was unable to keep playing.
  • Despite getting within striking distance of an incredible comeback victory, ASA charged right back to pull away late from Harford to hand the Fighting Owls their first loss of the season.
  • Holder led the way for Harford with 15 points while Morton was right behind with 13.
 
UP NEXT
  • Harford will continue their run in the Washington D.C. based Title IX DC Classic on Friday, December 29 at 8 PM.
  • The Fighting Owls' second game in the three day tournament will be against the Rhode Island Knights who are 10-4 on the season including a 54-52 win against Frederick in the first day of the tournament.
