HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In contrast to some recent games, this one saw the Fighting Owls jump all over their opponents in the opening minutes despite Harford missing star forward Dahnye Redd to a stomach virus.
  • The biggest stretch of the game was a 21-4 run for Harford in the first half, a run they were able to ride all the way to a comfortable first half lead of 59-22.
  • Things got a little nervy for the Fighting Owls late in the game as Daisa Harris fouled out early in the fourth quarter.
  • The Skipjacks took advantage of this opening and cut the Harford lead to within 20 points, but the Fighting Owls were lifted by the play of their other playmakers to hold on.
  • With Harris in foul trouble for much of the game and ultimately fouling out along with Redd not available, the burden to step up was answered by the other two "Killer Ds."
  • Dominique Walker was phenomenal all game as she finished a career best night of 28 points and 21 rebounds.
  • Danielle Durjan also showed that she is getting hot at just the right time, scoring 24 points along with 5 assists and 6 rebounds.
  • Daisa Harris still had another fantastic game despite the foul trouble, dropping 23 points while adding 8 rebounds and 6 steals.
  • Joy Morton and Adrienne Jones both scored four points each in a rare game that Harford was not able to spread out the scoring.

GAME QUOTES AND NOTES:
  • Head Coach Mike Seney: "Dominique Walker was a beast tonight. Harris and Durjan were also great and we had some players step up and play tough defense to fill in for Dahnye Redd not playing. This was a good team we played against tonight, but we went into their house and played a really good game."
  • Dominique Walker set a career high for points scored a career high 28 points in a game, which broke her previous best of 23 set just four days ago at Garrett.
  • Walker's 21 rebounds matched a career high, set last year against Baltimore City in the last regular season game of the 2015-16 schedule.
  • With those 21 rebounds, Walker has now tied the Harford women's basketball career rebounds record at 500 set by Kiara Reeves in the 2008-10 seasons. Surely Walker will be looking forward to breaking that record in front of a home crowd
  • Danielle Durjan matched her career high for point scored at Harford with 24, which matches her performance against Prince George's back in early December.

UP NEXT:
  • Harford will look to lock up the #1 seed in the upcoming Md Juco tournament if they are able to beat Allegany College on Friday, February 3rd at 5 PM.
  • Allegany is 6-12 on the season and are desperate for a win as they sit in 10th place in the conference at 3-7. A win for Allegany will keep them in contention to finish in the top eight to qualify for the conference tournament where as a loss will surely crush those hopes.
  • Friday night is Towson Night at Harford as the Fighting Owls athletics department will honor the continued partnership between Harford Community College and Towson University.
