HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The fast paced Harford style of play was on full display from the opening seconds when Dominique Walker blocked a shot that led to a fast break lay-up for Adrienne Jones.
  • Daisa Harris got off to another great start with 10 points in the opening 10 minutes. Baltimore City started defending in a box-and-one for much of the game as Harris was constantly face guarded by the Panthers.
  • Dominique Walker was a menace on the full court press with 3 first quarter steals and 8 points including a steal and lay-up on a Baltimore City in-bound pass.
  • Harford got a little nervous when Walker picked up her third foul mid-way through the second quarter and rode the pine for the rest of the first half.
  • That void was filled by Dahnye Redd who was welcomed back to the line-up after missing the previous six games due to injury. She was big in the paint against the powerful Baltimore City forwards and was the only player to earn a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Danielle Durjan shot just 2-13 from behind the arc, but she hit a huge three pointer at the buzzer to take a 52-36 halftime lead. Durjan did most of her damage in the first half via the pass with 5 assists.
  • The Fighting Owls extended their lead all the way to 22 early in the third quarter at 64-42, but a 17-2 run by Baltimore City got the Panthers believing they could make a comeback.
  • The Panthers got within six points early in the fourth quarter, but Harford responded with an 11-0 run that put the game out of reach as the Fighting Owls celebrated their third straight conference championship.

GAME QUOTES AND NOTES:
  • Head Coach Mike Seney: "I thought we responded to every punch they threw at us. We never backed down; we took every haymaker and threw back two of our own. Our team showed grit and heart all afternoon. They played box-and-one on Daisa and our team stepped up when we needed them to."
  • Sophomore guard Daisa Harris: "I think we showed up ready to fight. Baltimore City also fought hard, but we wanted it more and I'm proud of the team the way we stayed together."
  • Sophomore guard Danielle Durjan: "I think it came down to heart and who was able to throw the last punch. I am proud of our team because collectively everyone chipped in and showed up when it mattered the most."
  • Sophomore forward Dominique Walker: "The game was tough only because we made it tough. But we made sure to show Baltimore City who wanted it more."
  • Coach Seney has now won all 50 games against conference opponents since taking over as the head coach during the 2014-15 season.
  • Daisa Harris was named the tournament MVP after scoring a combined 91 points over the three games. She only scored 16 in the final, but did provide 6 assists and 3 steals as she was under heavy pressure all day long.
  • Dominique Walker led all scorers with 24 points on 10-15 from the floor along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals. She was named to the All-Tournament team along with teammate Danielle Durjan who scored 18 points with 8 assists and 6 rebounds including a few highlight worthy no-look passes.
  • Adrienne Jones was the x-factor as she stepped up with 22 points when Harris was being stifled.
  • Harford's reserves play a combined 27 minutes and provided only two points on a Nicole Sharpe lay-up. Joy Morton did provide 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals in 16 minutes of play.
