HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1

  • The Fighting Owls defeated Hagerstown in their first conference game of the season thanks to a stellar pitching performance.
  • Emily Bowler gave up just seven hits and one earned run with nine strikeouts to keep their opponents at bay.
  • Harford got on the board first in the third inning when Alexis Valentine hit a line drive to center field that scored Samantha Koga from first.
  • The Hawks tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth on a double to right field.
  • Harford answered right back in the top of the fifth starting with back-to-back singles by Koga and Valentine.
  • Both of the runners moved up a base on a wild pitch before Emily Wikane reached on an error to score Koga to regain the lead at 2-1.
  • That was all the support Bowler needed as the Fighting Owls secured their fourth straight win.
GAME 2
  • The Fighting Owls scored three runs in the fourth inning with the big inning being driven by a single by Emily Bowler and a double by Emily Wikane.
  • Harford collected nine hits with Alexis ValentineLindsay Bowler, and Wikane each collecting multiple hits.
  • Valentine gave up eight runs in 2.2 innings pitched before Bowler came in relief to allow just one unearned run over 3.1 innings with four strikeouts.
