HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1

  • The Fighting Owls scored an incredible nine runs in the first inning as they batted around the order before the home team got an at bat.
  • With the first three Harford hitters taking walks, Caroline Frank and Emily Bowler hit RBI singles before Brittany Bergquist hit a three-run home run to right field.
  • Samantha Koga kept things going with a walk before Alexis Valentine, Emily Wikane, and Frank all singled to score a few more runs.
  • Harford was shut down in the second and third innings, but Emily Bowler snapped that with a home run to dead center in the fourth in addition to an Alexis Valentine walk with the bases loaded to score another.
  • The Skipjacks picked up runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, but Valentine was able to finish out the game as Harford won a big conference game.
GAME 2
  • Chesapeake rallied in game two as they kept the Fighting Owls to just one run despite Harford getting eight hits.
  • Alexis Valentine and Emily Wikane both had a couple of hits, but the only run came on a Samantha Znamirowski RBI double to score Julia Gatch in the fourth inning.
  • Emily Bowler had a rare rough outing as she gave up 14 runs in 4.0 innings pitched, but just four of those runs were earned as the Harford defense picked up six errors in the game.
UP NEXT
  • Harford will finally get to play their first home games as they host Niagara County on Friday, March 24 at 5 PM.
