HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
  • Harford was only able to put together three hits in the game as they struggled to get to Brookdale's ace.
  • Emily Wikane was able to reach base in all three at bats with a single and a couple of walks.
  • Harford's best chance to score came in the first winning when they loaded the bases with two outs but were unable convert.
  • Pitcher Emily Bowler was fantastic on the mound, giving up six hits and two runs (one earned) with one walk and 10 strikeouts while taking the hard luck loss.
GAME 2
  • Alexis Valentine started game two despite dealing with an illness and valiantly gritted her way through four solid innings, giving up just three hits and no runs with one strikeout.
  • Harford once again had the bases loaded in the first inning after singles by Valentine, Emily Wikane, and Samantha Znamiroski but once again failed to take advantage of the opportunity.
  • The Fighting Owls didn't threaten again until the bottom of the fifth when Alexandra Gasior earned a two out pinch hit walk. Samantha Koga re-entered to run for Gasior who then advanced on a Valentine single through the right side of the infield.
  • Lindsay Bowler came through with a big RBI single down the left field line to drive in Koga and give Harford the lead.
  • Emily Bowler took over for Valentine on the mound starting in the fifth inning and kept the Jersey Blues off the score board until they scored on an error in the seventh to tie the game.
  • Brookdale scored in the top of the eighth and Harford was unable to answer in the bottom half in a tough loss for the home squad.
