Urban, Poole lead the way with hat tricks

  • The Short Story: The Harford women's lacrosse picked up a big conference win against their local rivals as part of a tough stretch.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Essex came into the game with an upset on their minds as thy went up 3-1 in the first 13 minutes.
  • The Fighting Owls woke up after that as they scored the next seven goals in a row, holding Essex scoreless over a 35 minute stretch.
  • After Essex scored a couple of goals to make it a 10-6 Harford lead, a crazy last minute and a half ensued as there were five goals scored in the final 98 seconds.
  • Goalkeeper Erica Wright allowed the first two shots she saw to score, then was a brick wall as she tallied 12 saves on the day. 
  • Courtney Poole and Nina Urban matched each other with three goals and one assist as Urban is third in the country with 27 goals on the year.
  • Kelsie Davis and Julianna Butta each added two goals and an assist to the effort while Sierra Donovan had a four point night with two goals and two assists.
  • With Harford missing star defender Cidney Gray, the Fighting Owls defense stepped up big led by Natalie Neff, Eve Bailey, Molly Clark and Karlie Abbott.
UP NEXT:
  • Harford continue their stretch of big conference games as they host Anne Arundel on Thursday, April 13 at 6 PM.
  • The Riverhawks are second in the conference at 3-1 and are 7-2 overall including a 17-7 victory over the Fighting Owls in late March.
