HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1

  • Pitcher Alexis Valentine struggled out of the gates, giving up home runs to lead off hitter Taylor White in her first two at bats.
  • Down 7-0 in the fifth, Samantha Znamiroski saw her deep fly ball to right field misplayed which scored Emily Wikane and Emily Bowler to get Harford on the board.
  • The Fighting Owls got another one back in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Valentine to score Julia Gatch and cut Monroe's lead to 7-3.
  • The Mustangs came back in the bottom half to score a pair of insurance runs that Harford could not match as they had just five hits as a team in game one with Valentine and Gatch each having a pair of hits.
  • Just four of the Mustangs nine runs in the game were earned as Harford had six errors in the game.
GAME 2
  • Harford jumped out to a great start in game two as Emily Bowler crushed a three-run home run in the first inning for her third home run of the year.
  • The Fighting Owls kept the rally going as Savannah Meyers later hit an RBI single to score Emily Wikane to give Harford a 4-0 lead.
  • Harford would add to that lead in the top of the second as Samantha Znamiroski hit an RBI fielder's choice to score Alexis Valentine to put the Fighting Owls up 5-0.
  • That was the last time the ladies in blue scored as they were shut out over the final five innings.
  • Emily Bowler did everything possible on the mound to keep Harford in the game with six strikeouts and only five hits over six innings pitched, but five Fighting Owl errors led to seven unearned runs.

UP NEXT

  • The Barons are 9-14 on the season and 0-2 in their conference.
