Fighting Owls Fall Just Short at Delaware Tech

Harford unable to overcome absence of key players

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Fighting Owl sluggers Luke Johnson, Ryan Calhoun and Ryan Shinn were all out due to illness.
  • Unlike their previous game against ASA, the other players on the team were unable to pick up the slack enough to pull out a win.
  • Keeping with their recent trend, Harford scored in the first on an RBI groundout by Adam Rapp, but the Hawks scored six runs in the bottom half. 
  • Even with the hot hitting Peyton Sorrels hitting a two RBI single in the second along with an RBI single by John Mastrangelo in the third, Harford continued to trail throughout the contest.
  • Needing three runs to tie the game, Tanner Forry brought Harford back to within one with a two run home run in the fourth, but that was the last time either team would score in the game.
  • Briar Lauer was superb in relief of Nick Turnbull, allowing just two hits and two walks with three strikeouts over five and a third innings with no runs.
UP NEXT
  • Harford will travel to th western tip of Maryland to face Garrett College on Saturday, April 22 at 12 PM.
  • The Hawks are 18-19 on the year and sit in ninth place with a 4-5 conference record.
