HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Fighting Owls were missing several key players that were out due to illness, but that void was filled in by the other Harford star players.
  • After ASA scored in the top of the first, Tre Todd destroyed a lead off home run for the fifth time this season.
  • The ball was flying out of the park often as Toby Sponseller hit a solo shot in the second inning and Peyton Sorrels knocked a two run homer in the third for his eighth of the year.
  • ASA hit a two run home run in the top of the fifth to cut Harford's lead to 4-3, but Adam Rapp answered with a two run shot of his own in the bottom half.
  • Sponseller jacked a two run bomb for his second of the game in the seventh inning while Todd matched that with his second homer of the game in the eighth.
  • Todd, Sorrels, Rapp and Sponseller were the only ones to get hits for Harford with all of them tallying multi-hit games and all four hitting bombs.
  • Mike Taylor was effective on the mound, going seven innings with just four hits and two walks while only one of the three runs he allowed were earned. Taylor also rung up three to earn his fifth win of the season.
  • Truman Thomas pitched two nearly perfect innings with the only base runner he allowed coming from a hit by pitch.
UP NEXT
  • Harford will travel east to face Delaware Tech on Thursday, April 20 at 4 PM.
  • The Hawks are 12-18 on the year including a 1-2 record against Anne Arundel, 0-2 versus Cecil and a loss to Southern Maryland.
