Box Score: CLICK HERE HOW IT HAPPENED The Fighting Owls came into the game as the big under dogs, but showed a willingness to fight early on. After the Dragons scored the first goal in just over two minutes into the game, Brandon Johnston scored to tie the game midway through the first quarter. Howard took the lead back late in the first, but Kyle Barkley tied it up early in the second on an unassisted goal. Barkley tied it again at 3-3 later in the quarter, this time assisted by Andy Stump as Harford was hanging with the #2 team in the NJCAA. The Dragons scored the last two goals of the first half to take a 5-3 lead into the break, but Luigi Ascenzi got one back early in the third quarter to cut the lead to one. This was the closest Harford came to staying with the Dragons as Howard scored six consecutive goals to put the game out of reach. Barkley completed his hat trick early in the fourth quarter with John Perry scoring a minute later on Stump's second assist of the game, but the Dragons scored the last six goals of the game to make it look lopsided. Face off expert Chris Parrott won just 12-27 from the circle on an off day for his lofty standards. Defenseman Stephen Hill caused a couple of turnovers with a couple of ground balls along with Collin Beck who had four ground balls and one caused turnover. Jacob Laubner's 14 saves were necessary to keep the game close for much of the game. UP NEXT The Fighting Owls will be forced to say good bye to a a bunch of great sophomores including Matt Kunkel, Kyle Thomas, Jacob Laubner, Chris Parrott, Nick Lloyd, Adam Smith and Nick Esser. Head coach Aaron Verardi will now hit the recruiting trail to replace those departing sophomores as well as bolster a growing program. Print Friendly Version
