HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Harford took the lead just two minutes into the contest as a bad back pass by the Riverhawks defense was cut off by Antonio Savi who snuck a shot into the bottom right corner for an early Fighting Owls lead.
  • It took Savi just 13 minutes to get his name on the scoresheet again when a long pass by Dougie McIndoe was corralled by Savi for a one-on-one with the Riverhawks defense that he cut inside and powered a shot into the top right corner.
  • The hat trick was finished off less than two minutes later and just 17 minutes into the game when a long clearance by Henrique Castilho opened up a fast break for Savi that he buried into the bottom left corner in an incredible start to his Harford career.
  • Anne Arundel pulled one back with 13 minutes left in the first half when a long throw in was headed into the cross bar by Noah Beall and was able to head it into the net on the second try.
  • Things got a little nervous for the Harford faithful in the 68th minute when Jason Stump was called for a foul in the box and was shown a yellow card as Anne Arundel was given a glorious chance to halve the Fighting Owls lead. Goalkeeper Michael Nelson who was brought in at halftime made a diving save to his right to keep the ball out of the net and preserve the two goal lead for Harford.
  • The second half was largely a grind for both teams with few good scoring chances as the midfield led by McIndoe fought for possession for much of the final 45 minutes.
  • The four man back line of Castilho, Stump, William Wangu and Frank Assaro played an outstanding 90 minutes of soccer
