HOW IT HAPPENED
  • William Wangu attempted to catch the Tribunes forward on a fast break, but took the Monroe player out in the box resulting in an early penalty kick that Anthony Paris slotted into the bottom left corner.
  • Antonio Savi was practically unstoppable in the first 30 minutes of the game as he had the first four Harford shots and was unlucky to have not found the back of the net.
  • Rezon Ahmati made his first appearance of the season early in the first half and completely changed the dynamic of the game opening up spurts of offensive for the Fighting Owls.
  • Dougie McIndoe scored his first collegiate goal when a corner kick by Daniel Milad was headed by William Wangu over to McIndoe who chested it down and powered it into the top corner to tie the game.
  • The game took an unfortunate turn for the Fighting Owls when forward Ahmati was given a straight red card on a bizarre call that left Harford down a man for the last 30 minutes of regulation.
  • Wangu nearly made up for his early mistake when a curling 35 yard free kick was barely palmed away by the Monroe goal keeper. Pedro Germano had a free header on the ensuing corner kick that just sailed over the cross bar.
  • With just seconds left in regulation, a free kick for Monroe was curled into the middle of the box, but the header was expertly parried away by goalkeeper Michael Nelson to force the game into overtime.
  • Nelson came up with another massive save in the ninth minute of the second overtime when a shot from 10 yards out was pushed wide by the Harford goalkeeper.
  • Ultimately, the Fighting Owls earned a hard fought draw in a tough battle on the road between two skilled teams.
