Williams-Diggins Lifts Harford Over Hagerstown

  • Final Score: Harford Fighting Owls 71 -  Hagerstown Hawks 56

  • The Short Story: Poor shooting would hinder Harford and Hagerstown early in the first half, but both teams would rebound with a strong showing in the second. Khalil Williams-Diggins' 21 points in the final 20 minutes of action would provide the scoring punch the Fighting Owls needed to put away a gritty Hawks team.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In an astonishing first six minutes of play neither Harford or Hagerstown would score, shooting a combined 0-20 from the field.
  • Isaiah Boggs would end the drought with a hard-fought layup that would spark an 10-3 Harford run.
  • Hagerstown's Bryant Willis would help keep things close with his 13 points on 5-7 shooting in the first half. Both benches would combine to outscore the starters 40-16.
  • The second half would see the Fighting Owls and Hawks score 20 points in the first 10 minutes as Khalil Williams-Diggins led all scorers with 11 points. DeZ Brown would chip in five points during the stretch and Isaiah Boggs added four.
  • A quartet of scorers would lead Hagerstown on a 12-2 run tying the game for the first time since the score was 0-0 as the two teams were knotted at 54-54 with 6:42 left in the second half.  
  • The Fighting Owls would wake up after seeing their lead evaporate, finishing the game out on a 17-2 run led by Williams-Diggins' eight points. Carlos Done's three pointer with a 1:06 left would end Hagerstown's chance of a comeback.
  • Williams-Diggins would finish the game with 24 points including 9-18 shooting from the field and 5-10 from range. Done, Evason Ogbonna and Malik Jones contributed 10 points each off the bench.
 UP NEXT
  • Harford goes on the road to take on Anne Arundel this Friday, January 26th and 7 PM.
  • The Riverhawks are 2-15 so far this season and are 1-8 in conference play. Anne Arundel has loss their last 10 contests, but both of their victories have come at home this season including a conference overtime win against Howard.
