 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Harford struggled against the scrappy Cardinals early on with 12 first half turnovers and shooting just 4-16 from behind the arc.
  • Martin Kelly Jr. had a scoring burst early in the first half with 10 quick points but cooled off after that as did much of the Fighting Owls roster.
  • Catonsville jumped all over the Fighting Owls in the second half led by Tamaron Hargett and his 11 second half points as they went up eight with eight and a half minutes left to play.
  • Malik Jones scored three of his 16 points on a hoop and harm to cut into the lead and came up with a couple of clutch steals late to keep the Harford comeback going.
  • Harford was still down by six with seven minutes to play when Jones made a fast break layup followed by a huge three pointer to cut the Catonsville lead to three.
  • The Cardinals Javonte Sterling hit a jumper with three minutes left to make it a four point lead for the visitors and the upset seemed almost inevitable.
  • That is when it became the Karon Green show as he hit a three pointer and back-to-back baskets in the paint for a 7-0 run to give Harford the three point lead.
  • After a Cardinals free throw, the Fighting Owls broke the full court press and Green slammed home a monster dunk then made a basket and a foul for an old fashioned three point play to put the game away for Harford. Green scored 12 of his 22 points in the final three minutes of the contest to salvage a victory for the boys in blue.
  • Khalil Williams-Diggins had another solid game for Harford with 13 points and eight rebounds while Kelly Jr. had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
  • DeZ Brown once again showed up big on the defensive side of the court with seven blocks and 10 rebounds along with a trio of assists.
UP NEXT
