Bel Air, Md. – The Fighting Owls scooped up their fourth straight conference victory on Wednesday, soaring past the Anne Arundel Riverhawks 96-76.
After a tight opening five minutes left the two teams tied at 13-13, Harford would go a tear on offense, outscoring Anne Arundel 42-20 over the final 15 minutes to take a 55-33 lead in the break. The Fighting Owls played a complete game during the stretch, burying over half (16-of-31) of their shots from the floor while forcing nine Anne Arundel turnovers.
Harford continued to build their lead early in the second half, drowning the Anne Arundel squad in 30-point deficits on several occasions. Head coach
Mike Smelkinson unloaded his reserves late in the contest, allowing Anne Arundel a few garbage time buckets to close the gap before they eventually succumbed to the Fighting Owls.
