Fighting Owls Win Big On Sophomore Night

  • The Short Story:  Harford dominated Northern Virginia from the start, scoring their first basket just four seconds after the opening tip. Joy Morton's triple-double and a parliament of Fighting Owls would help close out Sophomore Night by giving Harford their 22 victory of the season.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Harford would take control of the game early on the defensive front, holding Northern Virginia to 3-18 shooting from the field while taking a commanding 15-point lead thanks to Joy Morton's eight points and six rebounds.
  • The Nighthawks saw their shooting woes carry over into the second quarter, sinking just three of their next 15 attempts. In contrast the Fighting Owls continued their hot start, with Ryan Holder's eight points coasting Harford into the break with a 42-15 lead.
  • The ladies in blue saved their best for the third, starting off the quarter on a 10-2 run thanks to a trio of Harford scorers.
  • Harford would finish out the next seven minutes on a 25-2 hot streak sparked by nine straight points from Destinee McQueen, giving the Fighting Owls a 77-21 advantage.
  • Joy Morton, who sat just six assists short of a triple-double heading into the fourth, would find the magic number with 2:57 left in the quarter. Morton would finish the game with 13 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
  • All 10 Fighting Owls who entered the game scored at least one basket in the contest, boosting Harford to a comfortable 108-35 victory.
  • Mcqueen would finish the evening leading all scorers with 19 points along with grabbing eight rebounds. Holder chipped in 16 points and Adrienne Jones would add 15 to the cause.
UP NEXT
  • With the completion of their regular season, Harford begins its postseason run on Thursday, February 15 in the Md Juco Conference Tournament against Allegany.
  • The Fighting Owls enter the tournament as the number one seed after going 10-0 in regular season conference play.
