Seney's 100th Win Gets Harford Into Semifinals

  • The Short Story: Head coach Michael Seney won his landmark 100th career victory as the Fighting Owls won their first round of the conference tournament in convincing fashion over Allegany by 90 points. Seney has an incredible overall record at 100-11 in his career as his .900 winning percentage is the best in all of women's college basketball.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Fighting Owls took the lead just five seconds into the game and eight points in the first 44 seconds of the contest forcing Allegany to call an early timeout.
  • Harford continued with a hot start as they went up 15-0 before Allegany made their first basket thanks to Ryan Holder getting four steals in the opening three minutes.
  • Moore continued to score at an astounding rate with 15 points in the first eight minutes in a career best quarter of play for the freshman forward. She went on to score 22 in the first half and 31 for the game as she easily bested her previous career high of 18 points in a game.
  • The Fighting Owls went on a number of impressive runs including a 29-0 midway through the first half as Harford went into the break with a 74-16 lead.
  • Joy Morton fell just a few rebounds short of a second consecutive triple-double, but did get a career high 12 assists to go along with 13 points and seven rebounds.
  • Adrienne Jones scored 19 points with Shantel McCray-Cheeks added a double-double to the cause with 18 points and 12 rebounds.
  • The scoring came from every where on the Harford lineup with Tianna Swearinger scored 15, Janiece Loney scored 13 and Elaija DeMeza scored 8 with 10 rebounds.
  • Allegany had a trio of double-digit scorers led by Symone Grant with 13, Daejiah Dayton with 12, and Jonae Bean with 11.
UP NEXT
  • Harford will take on #4 seeded Cecil College in the semifinals on Saturday, February 17 at 2 PM.
  • The Cecil Seahawks are 20-4 on the season and advanced to the semifinals thanks to a dominant 79-57 win over #5 seeded Frederick in the quarterfinals.
  • Harford defeated Cecil in the regular season 78-58 in one of the closest women's basketball games played at the APGFCU arena this season.
