HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Fighting Owls worked through early turnovers and got some hot shooting from Tianna Swearinger, who made the first 10 points for Harford and scored 13 in the first quarter.
  • Harford went cold for a long stretch as Cecil went on a 10-2 run to take the lead before Adrienne Jones got it going with a three pointer and a fast break layup on back-to-back possessions.
  • With the ladies in blue taking a 20-19 lead after the first quarter, Swearinger continued her hot shooting with another three pointer out of the break making her first five shots from the field.
  • Ryan Holder showed off her defensive prowess with back-to-back steals that resulted in her first three points of the game to give Harford a 32-23 lead midway through the second quarter.
  • Cecil fought right back with an 8-0 run to cut the Harford lead down to one before a clutch three pointer by Janiece Loney stopped the bleeding.
  • Harford would onto the narrowest of leads at the break as they led 38-37 thanks to a good defensive showing that forced 15 turnovers and held Cecil to 30% shooting from the field in the first half.
  • Jones hit a corner three pointer right out of the break to set the tone out of intermission and get Harford on a 17-0 run with Jones accounting for nine of those points on her way to an 11 point third quarter.
  • Harford's dominant third quarter saw the Fighting Owls outscore the Seahawks 28-10 and increase their lead to 19 going into the final period.
  • While the offensive production slowed down for Harford, the fourth quarter was all about the defense as Holder continued to do an incredible job filling the stat sheet. Holder finished the game with 8 points, 15 rebounds, 7 blocks, 7 assists and 5 steals.
  • Swearinger led all scorers with 20 points with Jones close behind at 19; 13 of which came in the second half.
  • Alexis Moore scored eight points in the second half while Destinee McQueen came off the bench to add 8 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Cecil shot just 22% on field goals in the game but out-rebounded Harford 71-58 thanks to 35 offensive rebounds for the Seahawks.
