Harford Falls In Slug-Fest to Richard Bland

  • The Short Story: Harford and Richard Bland put up big numbers throughout the game. Harford fell behind early and were unable to complete the comeback despite their best offensive production of the season. The two teams only played one game as rain swept into the area and washed out the second game of the planned doubleheader.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Despite falling behind early, Harford took advantage of fielding errors by Richard bland to take the lead 4-3 in the top of the 3rd.
  • The Statesmen took the lead back in the bottom half but Harford struck for two more in the 4th highighted by Emily Bowler's 2 RBI double to center with the bases loaded.
  • Richard Bland took the lead for good with a grand slam in the 4th inning and added to the lead with another grand slam in the bottom of the 5th.
  • E. Bowler hit her first home run of the season with a two run shot to left center with Lindsey Bowler singling later in the inning to score Alexis Mack to close the deficit to just two.
  • Harford would be unable to score any more and fell despite great day by E. Bowler who came out of the bullpen to pitch six full innings while also racking up 5 RBI in the game.
UP NEXT
  • Harford will kick off their conference schedule on Friday, March 2 with a trip to Frederick.
  • The Frederick Cougars were 7-22-1 in 2017 and 3-11 in the conference but have not yet played a game this season.
