HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
  • Harford and Monroe kicked Saturday off with a slugfest, combining for 27 runs on 26 hits.
  • Down 7-4 heading into the top of the fifth, the Fighting Owls would go on an eight-run tear highlighted by Emily Bowler's two-RBI double down the right field line that gave the ladies in blue a 12-7 lead.
  • Monroe grabbed a 13-12 lead in the top of the sixth but walked a batter with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth to knot things at 13-13.
  • After allowing the Mustangs to score in the top of the seventh to make it 14-13, the Fighting Owls threatened in the bottom of the seventh with a runner on second and no outs. Monroe would force a couple of ground outs and a strikeout to end Harford's rally.
GAME 2
  • In a similar fashion to game one, the Fighting Owls and Mustangs traded ownership of the lead throughout the game.
  • Trailing 8-4 in the bottom of the sixth, Alexis Valentine would smash a grand slam to tie the game at 8-8.
  • Lindsay Bowler's single would drive in Savannah Meyers in the bottom of the seventh to give the Fighting Owls a 9-8 walk off victory for their first win of the season.
GAME 3
  • The Fighting Owls threatened to score several times during the first four innings but could only drive in one run.
  • The Mustangs grabbed a 3-1 in the top of the fifth highlighted a two-RBI triple.
  • Harford would explode at the plate in top of fifth, plating ten runs off six singles, a two-RBI double and a two-RBI triple to give the Fighting Owls an 11-3 mercy rule victory.
  • Alexis Valentine picked up her second win of the season on the mound, allowing just four hits while striking out two.
  • Emily Bowler and Samantha Znamiroski would combine to drive in six runs off five hits, while Jenna House and Savannah Meyers each added two hits to the cause as well.
GAME 4
  • Monroe jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but Erica James' double down the left field line would bring in two runs to tie the game at 2-2.
  • The Mustangs moved back into the lead in the top of the third after driving in four runs to make it 6-2
  • After adding a run in the bottom of the third Harford struggled to get anything going, stringing together four singles between the final three innings.
  • Monroe would add five more runs in the final three innings to end the game at 11-3 after six innings.
