  • The Short Story: The Fighting Owls played on their home field for the first time this season but were unable to secure a victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
  • Alexis Valentine pitched a gem in game one, going eight innings while giving up just two runs and a walk with three strikeouts.
  • Down 2-0, Harford tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with Samantha Znamiroski hitting in the game tying RBI to score Valentine.
  • Still tied after seven innings, the contest went into an extra stanza where Mercer was able to score a run in the top of the eight while Harford was not able to match it.
GAME 2
  • Harford was forced to play from behind in game two as well as Mercer scored one in the first and three more in the second inning.
  • The Fighting Owls got three back in the bottom of the second with Lindsey Bowler picking up an RBI single.
  • Harford made another comeback attempt in the fifth inning as Savannah Meyers and L. Bowler picking up RBI hits to close the deficit to 10-7.
  • Erica James added an RBI single in the sixth inning, but that would be the closest Harford would get to Mercer.
UP NEXT
  • Harford will remain at home for a doubleheader against Camden County on Thursday, March 8 at 3:00 PM.
  • The doubleheader will be the season opener for the Cougars.
