  • The Short Story: .The Fighting Owls battled conference foe Chesapeake in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader, falling in both contests to the Skipjacks after two valiant comeback efforts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
  • The Fighting Owls jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after Alexis Mack drove home Alexis Valentine
  • Chesapeake's bats came alive in the next three innings and led 9-2 after four innings
  • After allowing one run in the top of the seventh Harford would attempt a comeback, plating four runs before the Skipjacks silenced the rally at 10-6.
  • Mack finished the game with three RBIs off two hits along with stealing two bases.
GAME 2
  • Harford kept things close in game two, with both teams grabbing just one run before the fifth inning.
  • Alexis Mack continued her strong performance from the first game by smashing an RBI double to center field for Harford's first lead of the game. Caroline Frank would drive Mack in later to give Harford a 3-1 lead heading into the sixth.
  • Chesapeake flipped the script by grabbing to runs of their own in the sixth and one in the seventh to secure a 5-3 lead.
  • Erica James' RBI double that nearly went over the center field fence ignited the Fighting Owls second attempt at a comeback.
  • Harford would see a second runner on base after Frank was hit by a pitch but a strikeout and fly out left the game at 5-4.
UP NEXT
  • Harford will travel to Frederick for a doubleheader on Sunday, March 18 at Noon.
  • Frederick comes into the meeting with a 2-7 record on the season and are 0-2 in conference play.
