HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
  • Similar to Sunday's contest, Harford found themselves dealing with runners on the corners with no outs in the top of the first inning. Truman Thomas would work himself out of the situation, dealing three straight strikeouts to end the inning.
  • After grabbing a couple of singles to start the second inning, Monroe would strike for three runs thanks to a double and a Harford error to go up 3-0.
  • The Fighting Owls struggled to find their stride offensively, striking out 14 times while garnering just four hits.
  • Nolan Charlton would come off the bench in the bottom of the seventh and send a solo shot over the left field wall to bring the game to 3-1. A pair of strikeouts and a line out to third base would end Harford's attempt a comeback.
GAME 2
  • Harford found themselves down 3-0 in the top of the first after giving up two walks, a double and a single.
  • Nick D'Amore's bases loaded single down the right side of the infield to cut the Mustangs' lead to 3-1, but the Fighting Owls struck out three straight times to end their rally.
  • Monroe would grab a run in the second and third inning, but Harford countered with two of their own in the bottom of third off a single from Joey Schwartz and back to back doubles from Jake Wyandt and Nick Delp to close the gap to 5-3.
  • Down to their last six outs, the Fighting Owls showed great plate discipline by garnering three bases loaded walks to take a 6-5 lead.
  • Joey Schwartz followed the walks by putting a ball deep to left that was dropped by the Monroe outfielder, bringing in two runs to boost Harford's lead to 8-5. Monroe's pitching struggles continued on as they would walk in three more runs. Edward Camp's sac fly to center field brought in the ninth run of the inning, giving the men in blue a comfortable 12-5 lead.
  • Justin Fox left no doubt in the top of the seventh, striking out three batters to grab Harford a split on the day.
  • Antonio Buckley collected his first collegiate win for the Fighting Owls in relief, tossing four innings of three hit ball while striking out three.
