Harford Blows Past Ocean 17-2

  • The Short Story: The Fighting Owls won their third consecutive game by a comfortable margin to continue their excellent start to the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Harford jumped all over their opponents with a 9-0 first half lead with Chandler Schmidt picking up a first half hat trick while Eli Doyle had a goal and three assists including a buzzer beater at the end of the first quarter.
  • Shaun Vines had a highlight reel worthy play as he picked up a ground ball and took a behind the back shot with the long pole that found the top corner.
  • Fellow long pole Brett Wilson scored just 12 seconds later off the face off as the Fighting Owls dominated the opening 30 minutes.
  • The Vikings scored first in the second half, but Reece Wiseman scored the first of his three second half goals to answer on his way to a four goal game.
  • Harford went on to score six more goals in the fourth quarter to easily put away Ocean County in a snowy, blustery environment.
  • Doyle led the way with three goals and three assists with Wiseman and Schmidt each adding four goals and an assist.
  • Caleb Hippensteel was dominant in the faceoff circle, winning 19 of 22 with 11 ground balls.
  • Goalkeeper Chris Stallings picked up eight saves and his third win in as many games this season.
  • Harford's defense was spectacular in the game led by Nicholas Perrot with seven ground balls (GBs) and five caused turnovers (CTs) along with Collin Beck with four GBs and three CTs and Shaun Vines adding seven and three respectively.
  • Harford as a team collected an astonishing 67 ground balls in the game along with 20 caused turnovers.

UP NEXT:

  • Harford will face their toughest test of this young season as they travel to Nassau on Thursday, March 22 in Garden City, N.Y.
  • The Nassau Lions are ranked number two in the NJCAA this season at 3-0, the same ranking that the Lions held when Harford beat the Lions in spectacular fashion in the 2017 season.
