HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Trevor Sprinkle worked himself out of a jam in the top of the first thanks to back to back strikeouts to end the inning.
  • After Michael Richardson and Spencer Smith executed a double steal, Nick D'Amore and Lou Testa would drive them in to give Harford a 2-0 lead after one.
  • Despite what proved to be an extremely windy day, Testa powered his fifth home run over the left field wall for a 3-0 advantage in the third.
  • Harford executed a second double steal to put runners in scoring position in the bottom of the fourth. Richardson's sacrifice fly, Smith's two-run bomb and a wild pitch put the men in blue ahead 7-1.
  • Richardson, Testa, and Joey Schwartz each grabbed an RBI off of their respective doubles in the fifth to highlight a five-run inning that handed the Fighting Owls a 12-1 lead.
  • Harford gave one back in the top of seventh but closed the Nittany Lions out on a ground ball to seal a 12-2 victory after just seven innings.
  • The Fighting Owls received strong pitching all afternoon highlighted by Sprinkle's seven strikeouts in four innings to improve to 2-0 on the season.
  • The combination of Braeden Fausnaught, Briar Lauer and Jack Slade allowed just one hit and one run while striking out five in three innings of relief.
