HOW IT HAPPENED.
  • Harford and Anne Arundel were locked in a battle from the start, with the Fighting Owls taking a 7-4 lead midway through the first thanks to several goals from Nina Urban and Erin Dean.
  • The Fighting Owls went up 10-6 with four minutes left in the half but the Riverhawks would cut the lead back to 10-8 with 30 minutes left to play.
  • Anne Arundel stayed hot in the second half, scoring 9 of the next 11 goals to grab a 17-12 advantage with 10:53 left to play.
  • Dean's goal just nine seconds later proved to be the spark that ignited the Harford comeback. With Harford closing the gap to 17-15 with seven minutes left, Brooke Siebert intercepted a Riverhawk pass that Harford transitioned into Rachel Wilson's fifth goal of the evening.
  • Nina Urban would win the ensuing draw control and drive the field just 16 seconds later to tie the game at 17-17
  • Anne Arundel took an 18-17 lead with four minutes to go, but Dean found pay dirt 30 seconds later to force a tie once more.
  • With 2:30 left and the game still tied, Siebert saved an Angelina Horan free position shot. The Riverhawks Sofia Michael scooped up the rebound, but her shot was also stonewalled by Harford's freshman net minder for her 11 save of the evening.
  • The Fighting Owls would get one last shot to clear the ball and score with 30 seconds left. Dean, in a last ditch effort, hurled a pass from Harford's own half that hit Courtney Poole in stride. The sophomore attacker left no doubt, tucking the ball in the top right corner of the net as the clock his zero to complete the comeback and give Harford a dramatic 19-18 win.
  • The Fighting Owls defense, led by sophomore Cidney Gray (5 caused turnovers, 4 ground balls) held the potent Riverhawks to just one goal in the last 11 minutes of the game.
  • Dean and Wilson combined for 11 of the Fighting Owls 19 goals, while Urban and Poole contributed four and three goals respectively to the cause.
