Oxford, Ga. – The Fighting Owls secured their first win of the 2018 season, defeating Oxford of Emory on the road by a score of 6-3.

The ladies first match was very one sided and even the best Harford players could not match their level.  The closest match was by Maria Rey at #1 singles and she battled hard but wound up losing 6-1, 6-3 in a hard fought match.

Harford would rebound from a 9-0 loss to Abraham Baldwin in the morning with a strong afternoon showing against the Eagles. The match featured the national champions from the fall in NJCAA Division III tennis.  Harford's duo of Tillinghast and Rey won their doubles match 8-4 and continued to improve as a team.  The #3 doubles team of Yeager and Fonzi battled hard and almost pulled out the victory, but wound up losing 9-8 in a hard fought match.   

The ladies in blue earned wins in five of their six singles matches, including knocking off Oxford's top four solo competitors. Maria Rey and Kyning Tillinghast proved to be huge on the day, dominating the Eagles top two singles players as well as picking up an 8-4 victory as a tandem against Oxford's #1 doubles pairing.
Sofia Samra, Rosario Bove and Kayli Fonzi also picked up singles victories against Oxford.
