Four Homers Lead Harford Past Mont Alto

  • The Short Story: The Fighting Owls secured their third straight win on Friday, handling the Nittany Lions 16-7 off the back of four Harford home runs.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Colby Lee worked the Fighting Owls out of a two on, two out jam in the top of the first inning with a big strikeout
  • Harford scored their most runs in the bottom the inning, putting six on the board thanks to a couple of errors, a three-run home run by Lou Testa and Joe Sibeto's RBI double.
  • Spencer Smith gave the Fighting Owls a 7-0 lead with his fifth home run of the season.
  • Penn State – Mont Alto cut the lead down to 7-4 in the top of third but Justin Brown's three-run homerun extended Harford's lead to 10-4.
  • After allowing another run in the bottom of the fourth, the Nittany Lions would close the gap to 11-7 in the top of the sixth.
  • The Fighting Owls responded once again in the bottom of the inning with strong base running and a double from Nolan Charlton to give them a 14-7 advantage.
  • Alex Barker's seventh inning two-run home run made it 16-7 in favor of Harford and put the game out of reach.
  • Joe Smeton picked up his first win of the 2018 for the Fighting Owls. The southpaw struck out four batters while allowing just three hits over three innings of work.
  • Nehemiah Wright led all batters with four RBIs and walked twice on a 2-3 day at the plate. Brown would add two hits and three RBI to the cause as well.
UP NEXT
  • Harford goes on the road for a doubleheader against Southern Maryland on Saturday, March 10 starting at Noon.
  • The Hawks are 2-5 this season but have won two out of their last three contests.
