HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Harford jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Chandler Schmidt dodged from behind the Howard goal and scored in the top of the net.
  • The Dragons answered right back with a couple goals, but Jeff Otenasek made a great individual effort to tie the game back at 2-2.
  • Howard extended their lead to 5-2 after the first quarter with Harford answering in the second quarter thanks to some big face off wins by Caleb Hippensteel which led to goals by Reece Wiseman and Schmidt.
  • An unsportsmanlike penalty by the Howard bench allowed Harford a man up goal by Grady DiPeso as the Fighting Owls cut the Dragons lead to just one.
  • The two teams traded goals back and forth with Wiseman and Schmidt setting each other up to keep Harford just one goal away for much of the first half.
  • The Dragons took a 10-8 lead into the break and scored the first two of the second half before long pole Brett Wilson received a pass right in front of the net from Eli Doyle and scored from point blank.
  • Howard went on to score the next four goals to end the third quarter and the opening goal of the fourth quarter before Schmidt scored his fourth of the game to stop the Dragons momentum.
  • Di Peso scored on a fast break and Tyler Klein scored his first goal of the season, but the Dragons pulled away late.
UP NEXT:
  • Harford will face their toughest test of the season as they travel to Syracuse, N.Y. to take on #1 ranked national powerhouse Onondaga on Saturday, April 14 at 12 PM.
  • The reigning champion Onondaga Lazers are 9-0 this season including wins against Anne Arundel and CCBC Essex.
