Fighting Owls Take One From Mustangs

  • The Short Story: The Fighting Owls faced off against the Mustangs for the two teams third doubleheader this season, splitting with Monroe as they did in their previous two meetings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
  • Both teams would do most of their damage in the first six outs with Monroe leading 4-2 after one.
  • Erica James RBI-single drove in Alexis Mack from third to cut the deficit to 4-3, but the Mustangs held the ladies in blue scoreless the rest of the way while adding a run in the seventh to win 5-3.
  • Chloe Moyer proved to be a bright spot in her first appearance on the mound for Harford this season, allowing just four hits while striking out three in five innings.
Game 2
  • Harford got off to a start again in game two, with Olivia Gallimore's three RBI-double highlighting a four-run first for the Fighting Owls.
  • The Fighting Owls would not stop there, as Caroline Franks RBI-triple capped a five-run third for Harford to go up 9-1.
  • Monroe poked away at Harford's lead with three runs in the fourth and sixth, but Emily Bowler retired the Mustangs bats in the seventh to earn Harford a 9-7 victory.
  • Bowler (8-7) would go the distance in game two, tossing 109 pitches (149 between the two games) to earn the win.
UP NEXT
  • Harford finishes out the home portion of their schedule with a doubleheader against Garrett on Saturday, April 14 at 1 PM.
  • The Lakers are 1-19 this season and have yet to win a game against a Md Juco opponent.
