Fighting Owls Roll Past Riverhawks

  • The Short Story: Harford went ahead 14-0 in the first inning and never looked back, defeating the Riverhawks 19-8 for their 20th win against a conference foe this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
  • The Fighting Owls put their stamp on the game in the first, scoring 14 runs off seven hits while batting around twice. Ryan Calhoun's grand slam during the rout was his third in the past four games.
  • Anne Arundel started their long climb back into the game by getting one run in the third, but a costly error in the bottom of the inning allowed Harford to plate four for a 18-1 advantage.
  • The Riverhawks attempted to extend the game in the sixth, scoring seven runs from four Harford errors and five hits before flying out to end the inning at 18-8.
  • The men in blue capitalized on the Riverhawks fourth error of the game to plate their 19 run of the game in the bottom of the sixth.
  • Jack Slade would close out Anne Arundel in the top of the seventh, sitting the Riverhawks down in order for a 19-8 Harford victory.
  • Nick Turnbull (3-0) earned the win from the mound, striking out six through five innings of work.

  • Harford heads to the road to face Essex on Thursday, April 19 at 6:30 PM.
  • The Knights are 17-17 on the year and 6-7 in conference play. The Fighting Owls defeated their conference rivals 10-7 back on April 11.
