  • The Short Story: The Fighting Owls faced a second consecutive day of competition against a top conference opponent and were unable to come away with a win despite an offensive explosion in game one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
  • After giving up a run in the bottom of the first, Olivia Gallimore responded right back with a solo home run to straight center for her second dinger of the season.
  • Harford added another run in the top of the second when a Caroline Frank fly ball to right field was dropped by Catonsville allowing Samantha Znamiroski to come around from second to score.
  • The Fighting Owls kept the offense going into the top of the third as Alexis Mack and Erica James hit back-to-back jacks to give the ladies in blue a 4-1 lead.
  • Amanda Sullivan pitched three really good innings before the potent Cardinals lineup came alive in the fourth inning, scoring five runs to take a 6-4 lead.
  • Bowler and Caroline Frank hit consecutive singles in the top of the sixth which brought up Mack with two outs who bombed a home run to left field for her eighth of the year to give Harford the lead back.
  • Catonsville responded in the bottom of the sixth with six runs which proved to be enough as the Cardinals won game one 12-7.
GAME 2
  • Harford once again got out to a good start with a couple of runs in the first inning with an Alexis Mack double off the right field wall scoring Caroline Frank followed up Emily Bowler scoring on a wild pitch.
  • The Fighting Owls added another one in the top of the fourth as Mack drew a lead off walk followed by an Erica James double down the third base line to get Mack to third base. She would go on to score on an Olivia Gallimore RBI groundout to give Harford a 3-1 lead.
  • Catonsville would go on to score six runs in the fourth and another four in the fifth to complete the 11-3 win in five innings.
UP NEXT
  • Harford will play a third consecutive day of doubleheaders as they travel to Mechanicsburg, Pa. to face Messiah College on Friday, April 19 at 1 PM.
  • The Messiah Falcons are 19-13 on the year playing at the NCAA Division III level.
