Harford Beats Prince George's, Rain

  • Score: Harford Fighting Owls 14 –  Prince George's Owls 6 (7 innings)
  • Records: Harford 39-9, 22-3 Md Juco   | Prince George's 12-18, 7-11 Md Juco
  • Location: Bel Air, Md. - Harford Baseball Stadium
  • The Short Story: The Fighting Owls were able to beat their opponents and the rain as the two teams were able to get enough innings played before the game was called short due to the weather. Six doubles for the Fighting Owls helped spark the Harford offense and starting pitcher Braeden Fausnaught put in another fine performance to pick up the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Harford's scored a couple of runs in the first on a wild pitch and a Ryan Calhoun sacrifice fly to the warning track to get the boys in blue up 2-0 early.
  • Calhoun hit an RBI single in the third to extend the lead, but PG pulled a couple back in the top of the fourth to make it a 3-2 Harford advantage.
  • Four runs in the bottom of the fourth highlighted by a Joey Schwartz two RBI double put Harford up 7-2, but once again Prince George's refused to give up with two runs in the top of the fifth and another two in the sixth to make it just a one run lead for the Fighting Owls.
  • The home bats exploded in the bottom of the sixth to put the game out of reach starting with Calhoun hitting a triple then scoring on an error to get things going.
  • Two more runs scored on a Prince George's error followed by a Colin Adams RBI single and a Nick D'Amore RBI single to make it a six run sixth.
  • Harford kept the bats going in the bottom of the seventh, but the umpires ruled that the rain had gotten too heavy to continue and the game was called.
  • Fausnaught moved to 4-0 on the year after 4.2 solid innings then gave way to Brandon Nickel and Justin Fox to finish out the game.
