HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Leading 5-2, Harford surrendered three runs to Rowan-Gloucester. The inning began with a leadoff walk drawn by Jose Zayas. He advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a single by Neifi Mercedes. Mercedes stole second and scored on a double by Dillon Tassi. Justin Fox entered the game with no outs and after a dropped infield popup and a sacrifice bunt, the Roadrunners tied the game on a single by Jack Goan.
  • They plated another run in the seventh, taking advantage of a Harford error to lead the inning off. Noah Clement hit a ground ball that Nick D'Amore fielded near the third baseline. His throw short-hopped Joey Schwartz at first and went up the first baseline, allowing Clement to advance to second. Clement advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a ground out to short stop.  In the eighth Rowan-Gloucester scored two more runs to pad their lead to 8-5.
  • Up until the sixth inning, Trevor Sprinkle had held the Roadrunners in check. He gave up a run in the first and second innings each but locked in for the next three frames, holding the opponent scoreless. He finished with a line of five innings pitched, giving up five runs on 10 hits and two walks. He struck out six on the day.
  • After going down 1-0 in the first, Harford responded in the second with two runs to go ahead 2-1. Ryan Calhoun singled and Joey Schwartz doubled off the wall to put runners on second and third. Calhoun scored on a wild pitch and Lou Testa drove in Schwartz with a sacrifice fly.
  • After the Roadrunners tied the game at 2, the Fighting Owls were able to rally with two outs in the third. Mike Richardson singled and Spencer Smith crushed a two-run home run to left field. It was his 15th home run of the season.
