Mustangs Shutout Fighting Owls in Regional Opener

  • The Short Story: Harford fell in their opening round game of the regional tournament 6-0 against familiar foe Monroe College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Harford gave up a run in the top of the first, but came out strong in the bottom half with a lead-off walk by Lindsay Bowler and a bunt single by Caroline Frank, but the Fighting Owls were unable to get a run across.
  • The Fighting Owls threatened again in the second, getting the bases loaded with just one out after a Jenna House bunt single, but once again Harford could not get a runner to touch home plate.
  • The score stayed 1-0 until Monroe was able to tack on a run in the fourth followed by a crushing three run home run in the fifth inning.
  • Monroe would go on to add another run in the seventh and Harford were stymied in the bottom half.
  • Emily Bowler went five solid innings on the mound with Amanda Sullivan closing out the final two.
UP NEXT
  • Harford will move to the loser's bracket where they will face the loser of Monroe vs. Spartanburg Methodist in a game that will be played on Saturday, April 28 at 12 PM.
