Harford Shuts Down Express

New Rochelle, N.Y. – Harford put on a show during day one of the MLK Classic at Monroe College, breezing past the Monroe-Bronx Express for the second time this season.

The Fighting Owls were originally scheduled to face Gateway CC in this slot, but the Geckos were forced to back out of the tournament due to weather concerns.

Harford improves to 19-1 after today's victory, while the Express drop to 7-12.

Turning Point
Harford suffocated the Monroe-Bronx offense during the first 20 minutes, forcing 19 turnovers while allowing the Express to score just nine points. The ladies in blue, however showed plenty of life when on the attack, burying 22-of-51 attempts from the floor to cruise into the break ahead 55-9.

  • Over their last two matchups, Harford has outscored the Express 201-61.
  • Janiece Loney the Harford offense with 22 points on the back of six three-pointers.
  • Sophomore's Dahnye Redd (21 pts., 10 reb.) and Elaiha DeMeza (10 pts., 12 reb.) both finished with double-doubles.

The Kats come into the tournament with a 5-8 record but will play tournament-host Monroe later today before facing off with the Fighting Owls.
