Lake Land, Louisburg Shut Down Harford

Louisburg, N.C. – The Fighting Owls dropped a pair of games Friday, falling to Lake Land and Louisburg in five innings.

Lakeland 13 – Harford 2
Starting pitcher Jessica Miller helped her own cause in the first with a two-run shot over the centerfield wall in the top of the first. Miller did not fare as well on the mound, surrendering 13 runs over the next six innings as Harford's bats went silent.

Lexi Buchanan's singles to right in the top of the fifth was Harford's only other hit.

Braylyn Burdick (5 IP, 2 ER) earned the win on the mound for the Lakers, striking out four. At the plate, sophomore Allison Helton led Lake Land with three hits, three RBI and two doubles.

Louisburg 11 – Harford 2
Louisburg opened up the scoring in the first inning, when S Hilton single scored two runs. The Hurricanes tacked on seven more in the second inning thanks to a trio of home runs by Haleigh Joyner, Sarah Hilton, and LeeAnn Nobles.

The Fighting Owls finally got themselves on the board in the top of third with a pair of RBI-singles from Jessica Miller and Sam Beeler. Louisburg surrendered just one hit after that while scoring two more runs in the bottom of the third to close out the game in five innings.

On the mound, Mandi Bass (5 IP, 2 ER) earned the win for the Hurricanes. Sam Beeler (4 IP, 9 ER) moves to 0-1 on the year with the loss.
