Fighting Owls Topple Hawks, Secure Seventh Conference Title

La Plata, Md. – The Harford women's basketball team finished out their 2018-19 regular season by completing yet another perfect run through the conference, downing the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) 89-41 to ensure their seventh consecutive Maryland Junior College title.

This marks the fourth season in a row the Fighting Owls have finished with a flawless record in conference play. They have won their last 78 games against Md Juco foes dating back to 2014-15 season.
Harford ends its regular season with a 26-1 overall record, with a 12-0 mark in conference play.

Turning Point
The Fighting Owls put the game to bed early, soaring to a 26-4 lead by the end of the first quarter. Eight Harford players scored in the opening 10 minutes, with sophomore forward Jewel Porter leading the charge with six points.

Games Notes
  • Fresh off joining the 1,000 point scoring club, Harford forward Dahnye Redd led the team 18 points and 14 rebounds. This is her 24th double-double of the year.
  • Elaija DeMeza and Janiece Loney chipped in 16 and 14 points respectively.
  • Porter earned her second double-double in the last three games (11 points, 10 rebounds).
  • Including Wednesday's contest, Harford has committed 15 turnovers or less in five of their last six games.
Up Next
Harford will enter the Md Juco postseason tournament as the No. 1 seed and will play in the No. 1 vs No. 8 game on Thursday, February 15 at 6 p.m.

CSM are currently in eighth place in the standings.
