Harford Trumps CSM, Lock in Conference Tournament Bid

La Plata, Md. – The Harford men's basketball team returned to their winning ways on Wednesday, defeating the College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Hawks 86-79 in their first road game since Jan. 18.

Harford's victory guarantees them a spot in the Maryland Junior College Conference postseason tournament set for the end of next week. Seeding for the men and women will be done on February 8.

The Fighting Owls now sit at 14-10 (9-4 Md Juco) on the season with one game left to play.

Turning Point
With CSM up by one late in the second half, Harford sophomore Isaiah Boggs would rip the ball out of the hands of Hawks guard Kyle McAllister's and finish at the other end to give the Fighting Owls the lead. Harford surged off the energy from the big play, scoring 11 of the games next 12 points.

CSM fought back with a 10-2 run of their own but were forced to stop the clock by fouling Harford, who'd sink four of their six free throws down the stretch to come away with the win.

Games Notes
  • Five Fighting Owls ended the game in double-figures, led by 20 points from Jaedon Willis and Devin Smith's 18. The two also tallied four steals and a block respectively.
  • Naquan Williams-Day and Anthony Peacock tied for the team lead with seven rebounds each.
  • Willis, Smith, and Trevon Morgan all finished with three assists.
  • Despite dealing with early foul trouble, Harford ended the game with just 18 fouls.
Up Next
Harford ends the 2018-19 regular season with its final home game against CCBC-Dundalk on Friday, February 9 at 7 p.m.
