Bel Air, Md. - Harford drove home seven runs in the fourth inning on their way to a 12-2 mercy rule victory over the Chesapeake Skipjacks, Saturday afternoon at Harford Stadium.
Reliever
Marty Neal bridged the gap to the fourth, bailing the Fighting Owls out bases loaded jam with a strikeout to leave the Skipjacks stranded.
Back-to-back two-RBI doubles off the bats of
Matthew Shilling and
Spencer Harbert were the catalysts for the monster inning. An error, RBI-single, and wild pitch scored the other three runs to put the Fighting Owls just three outs away from ending the game early.
Chesapeake would manage to put two runners on base with one out in the fifth, but
Mitch Hoon sat down the next two batters he faced to give Harford the victory.
Harford improves to 14-5 with the win. The Skijacks fall to 12-5.
